Apple plans to start manufacturing iPhones in India in late April 2017. It is not a sudden decision. The technology giant has been waiting for the approval from Government of India. Finally, the IT minister of Indian state of Karnataka Priyank Kharge has said that India will soon host the Apple as the manufacturer of iPhones. The phones will be assembled in India.
The IT minister Priyank Kharge said that:
“Apple’s iPhones will be made in Bangalore by the end of April. All devices will be targeted at the domestic market.”
According to the buzz, Apple will join hands with Taiwanese contract manufacturer Wistron for its operation in India.
It is also reported that Apple is in talks with its customary partners to join this deal. The partners include Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd; also known as Foxconn. The other names might be revealed later.
Apple does not only plan to manufacture devices but it is having long-term intentions. Apple aims to extend in local market. To achieve its goal Apple has also sought approval for running its own network of stores.
CEO of Apple, Tim Cook said,
“I feel really good about how we’re doing in India.”
He added,
“We are in discussions on a number of things, including retail stores, and fully intend to invest significantly in the country. And believe it’s a great place to be.”
Apple gained the tenth position in the most sold brands and no doubt 2.5 million units that were shipped in India contributed to its position. Expansion in developing market is definitely of value for India.
The company still is aiming for betterment of India and the living standards of Indians.
Apple gets a wider market for its devices in India.
On the other hand Cupertino has also, avowedly, managed to negotiate some great starting conditions with the local government but there are certain conditions that apply.
