Google has just revealed a new security tool to keep its users safer. Google Chat will now alert you to questionable links in messages that could lead to phishing or malware downloads.
Phishing schemes can lock you out of your device or result in identity theft, for those who are unaware. Malware attacks, on the other hand, are growing more common, successful, and expensive, much like ransomware.
The warning banners “help safeguard users from criminal actors, keeping data safe,” according to Google. “This invite is suspect,” states a banner at the bottom of the message in red. You have the option of blocking the sender or accepting the message. It is entirely your decision.
This capability is also available in Google Drive and Gmail. Your data on Google Drive and Gmail is now also secure. This function is also available for both personal and business accounts.
In the following days, users will have this option enabled by default. This feature will be available on both the mobile and online versions of Google Chat.
