The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approved the launch of the Insaf Food Card, which would provide subsidised food to needy families across the province.
The permission was reached during a meeting of the provincial cabinet on Tuesday, which was chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. A total of Rs. 25.92 billion would be spent on the scheme, with each qualifying home receiving Rs. 2,100 per month. Nearly five million people across the province will benefit from the programme.
The method will choose deserving persons for the Insaf Food Card based on existing data from the Ehsaas Program. In addition, an agreement will be reached with the Bank of Khyber (BOK) to issue Insaf Food Cards on the same model as ATM Cards, which will go into effect at the start of the next fiscal year.
The Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, Senior Member of the Board of Revenue, and others were also present.
