Pakistan and Japan To Establish Technology and Skills University in 2017

Japan invests a lot in Pakistan. As Pakistan is a developing country Japan sees massive benefits. The Government of Pakistan is planning to open National University of Technology and Skills Development in Pakistan in association with Japan. In 2017 the University is hopefully going to open. It is estimated that the overall cost of launching the project is Pakistan Rupees 700 million.

The draft law for the establishment of the university would soon be tabled after approval. It has also extended technical cooperation under which it has assisted with the modification of curriculum and textbook and with provision of latest equipment in order to match modern technology and requirement of the industrial sector”, said Director of CIIT, Jamil Ahmed when on Thursday Pakistan’s representatives from Construction Technology Training Institute if Islamabad (CTTI) and Japan Official Development Assistance (ODA) met each other and discussed the plan.

The university has till now got permission to teach 5 subjects by Te Higher Education Commission (HEC).

CTTI was established in 1986.  From machinery to providing annum quota Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) played a vital role in establishing CTTI in Pakistan. Firstly it was known as Construction Machinery Training, it was named as Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) in 1992.

Jamil Ahmed also claimed that CTTI offers courses including training, vocational and diploma in different fields including automobile, civil, diesel and mechanical. As far as provincial seats are concerned, CTTI follows government allocated quota.
