Punajb Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has approved introduction of the cyberknife technology in the Jinnah Hospital in Lahore and Nishtar Hospital in Multan soon to treat cancer and other complex diseases free of cost.

The CM said while chairing a meeting that doctors would be trained about the treatment method. The Punjab government has made the method a part of the health card programme through the Ghurki Hospital, he added.

The chief minister said the government would also deliberate on giving the status of a university to the Allama Iqbal Medical College. Earlier, the CM stressed for making the best arrangements for the people coming to attend the annual international Tablighi congregation at Raiwind.

“They are the guests of the Punjab government who would be extended the best hospitality,” he said while chairing a meeting to review arrangements, security plans and other issues related to the occasion.

The first phase of the gathering will take place from November 4 to 6 and the second phase from November 11 to 13. The CM noted that a large number of people from across the globe were attending the annual congregation. He asked the administration to complete the arrangements on time while ensuring CCTV surveillance of the entry and exit points.

More cameras should be installed besides deploying additional patrolling police, he said and added that the number of wardens should also be increased to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

It is reported that Dr. Umar Saif, is now the part of Cabinet of Punjab. Umar Saif is actually Vice Chancellor of Information Technology University (ITU). The news came across saying that he has been appointed as new advisor to the Chief Minister Shabaz Shareef. The news was confirmed by Umar Saif who responded via tweet:

Dr. Umar Saif has a rich academic background. He has been student at LUMS, Cambridge and MIT. He completed his studies and became an entrepreneur and computer scientist. His ultimate success started when he joined the Information Technology University (ITU), Punjab as Vice-Chancellor in 2013. Over there Dr. Umar Saif worked to establish university and its courses. His works just is not limited to that but he has launched many programs to improve the services provided to the ordinary citizens including police, high-court, city district government, health and education, especially using smart phones.

In collaboration with Google, he led the development of Punjab Innovation Policy and launched Plan-9, Pakistan’s first and largest public-sector startup incubator. Dr Saif has also helped bolster IT in Pakistan. Though his achievements cannot be defined by awards still they show his success. He is the first ever Pakistani in top 35 of young innovators in the world (TR35) by MIT Technology Review and also to receive Google Faculty Research Award in 2011.

Sitarta Imtiaz is one if his biggest achievement of life. This is not an ordinary award. It is presented to someone who does something unique and extraordinary. Dr.Saif is one of those people in Pakistan who deserve this award. H addition to the Cabinet of Punjab stimulates optimism regarding the growth of IT and ICT research and innovation in Punjab.

Dr. Saif is one of those people who make their name by working hard day and night. Success comes to those who strive for it. There is a long journey of success waiting ahead. We wish he climbs more ladders and we congratulate him for this his success from core of our hearts.
