Another such startup is Halal.ad founded by Maruf Yusupov. It aims at providing Halal-friendly alternative to online platforms such as Google AdSense.

The majority of the world looks at Muslims as being “backwards” people; having made few achievements in the world. The few we do hear about are often only known for copying ideas from the West.

However, Muslims have and still use technology to positively impact the world. There are a number of startups that use both Islamic and ethical rules, and have grown into highly successful business.

Have You Heard About These Innovative Islamic Startups?

Below are a list of some awesome Islamic apps and Islamic Startups that focus on the needs of Muslims using technology.

Muslim Pro

With over 25 million downloads, Muslim Pro is one of the most downloaded and popular app in all app stores.

Muslim Pro isn’t that different from other similar apps you might find in app stores. However, it’s sort of like an all-in-one deal, where everything user need is in a single app, rather than spread across multiple apps, which can eat up space on smartphones.

Users can find the full Quran with recitations, prayer times, a Qibla compass, the Muslim calendar, digital tasbih, and even halel restaurants here. Virtually anything a Muslim individual would need can be found here, and if that wasn’t enough the app comes in a staggering 15 different languages.

This Islamic Startups app is available for Android Google Play store here and for iOS devices Apple store here.

Quran Academy

Founded by Bilal Memon, who is a Hafiz-e-Quran based in the United States, he worked with TechStars to make an app which aids people in memorizing the Quran.

Quran Academy uses technology to aid millions of Muslims around the world. Learning the Holy Quran is no longer limited to madrassahs, or needs years and years of commitment. Though only a mere two years old, this company released another app: Quran

This app doesn’t simply recite the Quran in the hopes that users will memorize it, rather it uses the latest innovative learning methods to make it simple and easy for users to memorize.

Quran Academy is available on Android devices here, and will be available for iOS devices soon.

Hajj Guider

Started by Hasam Ahmed Khan, this Pakistani startup Hajj Guider is an “accessory” that keeps track of those making the Hajj pilgrimage.

There’s an app that goes with the accessory. The idea behind this startup is that Hajj Guider helps navigate, direct, and alert pilgrims. It has the added bonus of being able to see the status of their health, as well and give real-time location services.

Perhaps the most innovative part of Hajj Guider is that it works without any network connectivity. Instead, it makes its own mesh network over a 5 kilometer radius with other bands. Fully charged, it can last for 5 days. Taking into consideration the number of people at Hajj, this is a wonderful thing.

Halal Ads

In recent years, ethical ads have seen a boom in popularity, and Halal Ads platform is one of those that are seeing an extraordinary amount of growth.

Many Muslim publishers are hesitant to monetize with Google AdSense for fear of ads that promote alcohol, or contain sexually explicit content. That’s where Halal Ads comes in.

This platforms serves roughly 500,000 ads every day in a staggering 190 different countries. As of today, this Danish startup is working with 1000 publishers and 400 advertisers!

Halal Ads gives Muslims the chance to target their audiences with Islamic products. The platform can be used on a variety of platforms with relative east: small or large websites, portals, blogs and even forums.

There’s an online UK based publisher called IlmFeed. It works to create inspirational and educational articles regarding the Muslim community and Islam.

The website discusses everything from Islamic history to mosques and their architecture. It covers inspirational historical events, and popular Muslim personalities. Basically anything that positively impacts the Muslim community.

In the short time it’s been around, IlmFeed has grown to the most visited UK based Islamic website worldwide and is continuing to rapidly grow more popular every day.
