Pakistan is set to launch a new Remote Sensing Satellite (PRSS) on Thursday, July 31, from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in China, according to SUPARCO — the country’s national space agency.

This advanced satellite will boost Earth observation capabilities and support key areas like:

• Disaster management (floods, earthquakes, glacier melt)

• Environmental monitoring

• Urban planning and precision agriculture

• Infrastructure and CPEC-related mapping

Equipped with modern imaging systems, the satellite will provide real-time data for national development and improve resource management through geospatial intelligence.

Strengthening Pakistan’s Space Journey

This launch builds on earlier missions like:

• PRSS-1 (2018)

• PakTES-1A

• EO-1 (Jan 2025) – Pakistan’s first indigenously developed satellite

• PakSat-MM1 (2024) – Expanded broadband coverage

• iCube Qamar – A student-led project that sent back lunar images

The new satellite aligns with Pakistan’s Space Policy Vision 2047 and reflects its growing collaboration with China in advancing space technology.
