According to research firm Insider Intelligence, TikTok’s ad revenue is expected to triple to more than $11 billion in 2022, surpassing the combined sales of its rivals Twitter Inc and Snap Inc.

With over 1 billion active users, TikTok, which is owned by Chinese startup ByteDance, is one of the most popular social media apps in the world.
“Insider Intelligence analyst Debra Aho Williamson noted that TikTok’s user base has skyrocketed in the last couple of years, and the amount of time people spend on the app is astonishing.”

In 2022, Twitter and Snapchat are estimated to produce $5.58 billion and $4.86 billion in advertising income, respectively, which is still less than TikTok’s projected $11 billion.

Despite legal concerns about user data from the United States being sent on to China, the United States is estimated to account for about $6 billion, or more than half, of this year’s ad revenue.

Snapchat has made it easy to share YouTube videos directly from your snap or story, eliminating the need to copy, paste, and attach the video as a link (via Android Police). Both Android and iOS users can use the feature.

All you have to do now is go to YouTube, click the “Share” option, and then choose “Snapchat.” Snapchat will open, and the video will appear as its own sticker in your camera, complete with the video’s name, thumbnail, and creator.

After you’ve taken your photo or video, you can play about with the size, rotation, and placement of the sticker on the screen. Anyone who sees your snap or story can open the link and watch the video on YouTube or in their web browser.

If you’ve ever tried to incorporate a YouTube video in a Snapchat photo or video, you’ll remember having to copy the link from YouTube and then open Snapchat, where you’d shoot your photo or video, tap the paperclip button, and paste the link in (or give Snapchat access to your clipboard). The video would be shown as a resizeable banner with a small thumbnail and the video’s title.

You may still use this method to add YouTube videos, but it doesn’t look as nice in my opinion as this YouTube-specific sticker.

The new sticker provides a clearer view of the video’s thumbnail and actually displays the name of the video’s author, whereas the old link format did not include that — often vital — piece of information.

In 2020, Snapchat released a sticker for Twitter, allowing you to avoid transmitting pictures of tweets or, god forbid, photographing a tweet on your computer screen.

SnapChat is one of the most used social networking site. The craze of the social giant was at its peak over the few years but it won’t be wrong if we say that the craze is eventually fading out.

The reason can be mentioned that the tech giant’s most amazing feature of 10 second story was copied by Facebook. Facebook not only introduced it to its messenger app but also in the WhatsApp and Instagram. Here this is to mention that now Instagram and WhatsApp have more users and stories than the SnapChat.

If recent stats are compared a huge difference can be seen

in the active users of WhatsApp Status and SnapChat stories. WhatsApp status has managed to get 250 million monthly users whereas SnapChat has 166 millon monthly active users.

It was am intelligent move by Facebook to introduce the story feature  on all its platform. This way they increased business  over night.

Even that the stories are not the main feature if the platform it still experienced great users. The stats state WhatsApp has over 1 billion daily users and 1.3 billion monthly active users.

According to growth chart for today the Facebook revealed its earning to public for second quarter of 2017. The company made a revenue of $9.32 billion despite a slower user growth. Their revenue was 44.7% year-over-year as compared to 59 percent in Q2 2016.

Facebook is trying to find alternative ways of business and this is one of the smart way of getting job done.

With the increasing popularity if such stories SnapChat story seems to fade away. SnapChat has not introduce any new feature since time to increase the business.

We fear that if no strong step is taken, SnapChat might completely go out of the picture.

On 20th of February, WhatsApp introduced a new feature named “status“. This is just like stories on Instagram, Snapchat and even Facebook. The status will have certain time limit and users can upload and share pictures, videos, GIFs and scribbles.

WhatsApp now operated under Facebook. Two years back, Facebook got the charge of WhatsApp by paying an amount of $19 billion. WhatsApp is perhaps the most used messaging platform and has given tough competition to Snap chat specially.

Over the years WhatsApp has been updated several times. Now it is equipped with ‘Read Receipts’, user tagging, end-to-end encryption, WhatsApp Web and the latest Status feature.

About WhatsApp status:

Status just works as stories used by many other platforms including Instagram and Snap Chat. Now users can upload pictures, videos, GIFs and add symbols, emojis, text and stickers to these uploads.

You can even upload more than one status. The timing is kept same like your upload will disappear after 24 hours and they will be end to end encrypted. Each status will be displayed for 45 sec.

Where is it located?

You need to update your WhatsApp to avail the feature. After the update check your navigation bar. Just between chats and calls there will be a new tab as ‘status’. For all who are merging up text status and this status let me clear that there has been no modification in anything of the previous version but just a new feature.

How it works:

Capture the picture or save the video or GIFs and then follow these simple rules:

– Scribble on the captured file

– Superimpose and position emojis on the file

– Add a caption below explaining the content

After the upload you can set the privacy setting and check who viewed your status from view counter that appears on the home screen of your WhatsApp.

You can even reply to someone story by simply pressing and then swiping left or right.

What’s in it for WhatsApp

WhatsApp is most frequently used messaging app and has gained about 1 billion users from all around the World. According to the stats daily about 60 billion messages are sent over WhatsApp. The stats also say that the messages sent daily comprise of 3 billion photos, 750 million videos and 80 million GIFs.

This can gain popularity and can affect Snap chat badly. Last year when Instagram launched its story feature, Snap chat had to face a drastic loss of 82% of its users. The new feature of WhatsApp might act as last nail in the coffin and maybe we would have to bid Snap chat a very sad good bye.

The new feature WhatsApp Status has received mixed reviews yet but no one knows what happens. People are the judge and if they accept the feature it can do great business.

Snapchat filed public offering on New York Stock Exchange. They chose their ticker symbol ‘SNAP‘. The company is confident about a benefit of $3 billion and has claimed about 158 million active users daily. IPO would rate the company above $20 billion.

Snap Inc. recently declared itself as a camera company. It no longer wanted to just remain an application developing company. The very innovative video recording sunglasses by Snap Inc. were a big hit.

If sources from the company are to be believed than the ad business of the company is accelerating with  $58.7 million revenue for 2015, and growing to $404.5 million in 2016.

In addition to the revenue generated, it also has suffered losses. Snapchat lost $372.9 million in 2015 and $514.6 million in 2016, which was more than its total revenue.

Snapchat has a really tough competition with Instagram. The increasing popularity of Instagram may damage Snapchat permanently.

Unfortunately all went in-vain, Instagram copied the ‘Snapchat Story’ feature and has added it to their platform. They named it ‘Instagram Stories’, to the surprise this was a huge success. Now Facebook has copied this story feature for Messenger.

According to experts the Snapchat stories are not so successful if compared to Instagram stories.

The founders will sit together to decide about the celebrities not using snapchat more often. The celebrities seem really active on Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.

“Our two co-founders have control over all stockholder decisions because they control a substantial majority of our voting stock,” Snap said in its S-1 filing. “The Class A common stock issued in this offering will not dilute our co-founders’ voting control because the Class A common stock has no voting rights.”

Michael Lynton to step down from his job. He is the head of Sony Entertainment business. The announcement was made on Friday. He wants to devote all his energy towards Snapchat. The reason behind this is that the startup behind this messaging app is going public.

Lynton has been on board for four years now and has become chairman just last year. The confirmation was made by the California based company.

Lynton said,

“I have been involved with Evan (Spiegel) and Snapchat since its early days, and given its growth since then, decided the time was right to transition and focus on my role as chairman of the board of Snap Inc.,”

Now he will be working  as co-chief executive officer of Sony Entertainment. He will be working with  Sony Corporation chief Kazuo Hirai to find a successor.

Hirai office will have his office in Culver City, California, to oversee operations.

Hirai said,

“The entertainment industry continues to undergo some of the most trans-formative changes it has ever seen. Michael’s vast experience and expertise in the entertainment and media space has been invaluable in charting a path forward through this new landscape.”

Lynton has an experience of 13 years as executive of Sony.

According to Snap they will set up their international headquarters in London. According to the stats claimed by the app about  150 million daily active users are using the application that  include 50 million in Europe.

According to the buzz confidential paperwork was submitted by Snap Inc. for public share offering about more than $20 billion in last November.

One of the best messaging apps where the messages disappear with in the few seconds after seen by recipient is now all set to get IPO.
