The company’s gaming and real estate operations, as well as Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok with approximately 600 million daily users, have also implemented the employment layoffs. According to a report in the South China Morning Post on Tuesday, hundreds of staff from various departments will be let go by Bytedance, the Chinese business that owns the video app TikTok, at the end of 2022 as a cost-cutting move.

According to the individuals, who asked to remain anonymous because they are not permitted to speak to the media, the decision has had an impact on the staff at Douyin, the Chinese counterpart of TikTok with 600 million daily active users, as well as its gaming and real estate operations.

With over 100,000 people worldwide and being one of the biggest employers in China’s tech sector, the job losses only account for a small portion of ByteDance’s workforce. Since ByteDance is a privately held company, it is not required to make information about its operations public.

In an effort to find the source of a damaging leak, ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, confessed this week that a small number of its employees, some of whom were based in China, improperly accessed the TikTok data of American users and two journalists.

In a memo to staff members that Bloomberg claims to have seen, TikTok CEO Shou Chew apparently acknowledged the overreach. The allegations come after a lengthy internal probe at the business that was sparked by a Forbes report earlier this year that alleged the business intended to use the TikTok app to track the locations of specific U.S. users.

According to ByteDance’s inquiry this week, a number of employees had access to ID addresses and other personal information from a couple of reporters for BuzzFeed News and the Financial Times as well as an undetermined number of US users they were in contact with. According to reports, those leaker hunters were trying to determine whether the targeted users were close to ByteDance staff. Those endeavours were unsuccessful.

After telling staff in December that the company needed to “get fit and bulk up the muscle” to streamline operations, CEO Liang Rubo announced the layoffs.

In China’s tech sector, job layoffs are typically made in the name of company optimization, and firing underachievers is a frequent practise. In 2022, thousands of jobs will be lost at other Chinese digital powerhouses including Tencent Holdings and Alibaba Group Holding.

These robotic capsules, known as the RoboCap, are covered in gelatin, have a tiny reservoir at one end, and have tunnelling characteristics in their main body.

MIT researchers and scientists have created a brand-new medication capsule that can totally replace insulin injections. These robotic capsules have the ability to pass through the body’s mucus barrier and small intestines before releasing the medication ingredients.

The mucus barrier in the digestive intestines was impenetrable to protein medications prior to the development of these robotic pills, thus doctors were forced to make do by injecting the medication straight into their patients.

“By displacing the mucus, we can maximise the drug’s dispersion within a local area and improve the absorption of both small molecules and macromolecules,” said Giovanni Traverso, a gastroenterologist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Development Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at MIT.

Orally administered protein medications begin to degrade even before they cross the mucus barrier; if they manage to penetrate further, the digestive tract’s acidic environment breaks down the pharmaceuticals. However, these new robotic pills can carry both insulin and vancomycin while effortlessly passing through mucus and the digestive tract.

The study’s lead author, Shriya Srinivasan, essentially built a protective capsule. This pill is made to readily pass through the barrier and tunnel through mucus.

“I reasoned that we could deposit the medication directly on the epithelium if we could tunnel through the mucus. She explained the concept of the robot pills: “The idea is that you would swallow this capsule and the outer layer would disintegrate in the digestive tract, exposing all these features that start to churn through the mucus and clean it.

These gelatin-coated capsules, known as RoboCaps, have a tiny reservoir at one end and tunnelling characteristics throughout the majority of the capsule. These capsules have a motor that starts spinning when they come into touch with a certain PH level, allowing the capsule to pass past mucus barriers.

“The RoboCap temporarily removes the initial mucus barrier before increasing local medication dispersion to improve absorption. We can really maximise our ability to create the ideal environment for the medicine to be absorbed by combining all of these components, according to Traverso.

According to the company’s official press release, Waada, an online insurance startup based in Karachi, has purchased a rival firm to become the largest insurance-tech startup in Pakistan.

Across an all-stock buyout, the business has acquired MicroEnsure Pakistan, a division of MIC Global with operations in South Asia and Africa. In addition to announcing the completion of a $1.3 million seed round from local angel investors and global venture capital firms, Waada did not disclose the deal’s worth.

Ishaq Kothawala, CEO and founder, stated that Pakistan has the lowest insurance penetration rate in the area at 0.7%. Technology, notably the development of the gig economy for agents and underwriters, can play a significant role in filling that gap. We now have the capacity to drive such innovation from the front thanks to this purchase.

With the use of Waada’s internal platform, anyone in the nation can virtually join up, view training videos, become qualified as a gig agent, and receive policies in just a few minutes—all without ever having to set foot on the company’s property. By lowering administrative expenses along the supply chain, this automation adds value and enables Waada to pay more commissions to agents and cheaper pricing to customers.

“Since insurance is about selling a promise about the future, building the trust necessary to deliver that promise is essential in the distribution process. The establishment of that trust in human interaction is essential to our fundamental nature. As a result, I think agents will always be important in the distribution of insurance. To enable agents to concentrate on selling rather than administration, it is necessary to automate every process, from underwriting to policy issuance, from leads management to commissions & claims,” he continued.

According to the New York Times, the company’s internal docs and two workers revealed the news of the DM function. Although Twitter hasn’t yet finalised the cost structure for DMs, the report estimates that it will be “as little as a few dollars per direct message.”

The messages would be categorised under a unique DM inbox, and Twitter would earn a percentage of the fees, the reporter claimed. For celebrities to receive messages from their fans, they would need to opt in.

The story sheds insight on the ongoing proposed/in-progress improvements that have been occurring swiftly since since Elon Musk took over the company, even though it is still unknown whether the feature will be implemented or not.

The most recent Call of Duty game, which debuted on October 28 this year, shattered all prior Call of Duty game records within three days of release. Soon after its release, the video game raked in a staggering $800 million in worldwide sales. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, a revival of the original Modern Warfare series, comes after the wildly successful Modern Warfare from 2019. It should not be confused with Modern Warfare 1, 2, or 3.

Even if Modern Warfare is no longer the best-selling CoD game, Activision has yet to disclose the precise amount of copies that have been sold worldwide. In 2011, Modern Warfare 3 was the best-selling Call of Duty title prior to the release of Modern Warfare 2. A staggering $650 million was made in the first five days.

Bobby Kotick, the CEO of the company, commended the Call of Duty team for their dedication and the magic they created using their amazing talent and technology. He also gave gratitude to the worldwide gaming community that enjoys and connects with Call of Duty.
For those worried about the Activision acquisition, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has assured them that Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation for as long as the console is in production. During his recent podcast interview with YouTubers Justine and Jenna Ezarik, he made the most understandable remarks.

What he said was as follows:

Our intention is to keep shipping Call of Duty on PlayStation consoles as long as there are any available. We’ve increased the locations where people can play Minecraft, much like we did with that game when we owned it. I believe that keeping the locales the same has been beneficial for the Minecraft community, therefore I want to do the same as we consider where Call of Duty might go.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has advised the federal government to get started on 5G right now.

PTA has recommended that work on 5G technology get underway in a letter to the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication. The letter requested that the federal government enact the 5G regulations and provide the go-ahead to all departments to begin their work.

MoITT and PTA want the 5G homework to be finished; at least three are needed for the employment of an international consultant. PTA will need to involve Pakistani embassies and overseas offices in order to advertise in foreign publications for the appointment of an international consultant. After the consultant is hired, the report preparation process takes more than six months.

The International will provide the PTA with a comprehensive report following consultation with all parties and operators. After examination, the federal government may ask the consultant to resurrect the study.

This homework is required if the government launches 5G, according to PTA sources. The timely deployment of 5G will be possible if the exercise, which will last six to nine months, is successful. Additionally, the work will provide a sense of what the sector and other stakeholders want. After receiving feedback from all interested parties, the MoITT released proposed 5G guidelines, on which a report was then submitted to the federal government.

Pakistan is already falling behind other nations in the area in the rollout of 5G, according to MoITT. Bangladesh and India have already started using 5G.

By June of 2019 the government hopes to have 5G operational. It is required to determine the spectrum bands and the cost of the spectrum, and development should begin. All of the groups will begin working on their individual components the day the federal government accepts the rules.

Isn’t it exciting that we can now communicate with our deceased loved ones? Indeed, why not? Using new technology, you can communicate with loved ones who have passed on. You can now have voice assistants for your deceased loved ones within your devices. The California-based business HereAfter AI developed the app. The company wants to make it possible for the living and the dead to communicate.

However, science fiction has long featured technology like this, which allows for communication with the dead. For decades, both medical professionals and spiritualists have wished for something similar. But now, because to the development of AI and speech technology, it is becoming a reality and one that is getting easier to reach.

Our loved ones are still alive, but virtual representations of them have been made in order to help us better understand technology. Unquestionably, a person who developed a virtual version of his mother, which he turned on after her funeral and spoke to, may perhaps find this technology weird or disturbing. Some claim that conversing with digital representations of deceased loved ones could prolong your mourning or cause you to lose your sense of reality. People genuinely believe that it is harmful to play about with death.

The worries are valid. It can be strange to communicate with a virtual replica of a loved one who has passed away. However, those who have lost loved ones may comprehend technology with ease. Why not, if it makes you comfortable?

Users of the app can communicate and engage with people in the past or present. The technology sounds like it was taken straight out of a Black Magic episode. The story was initially reported by the tech news website The Protocol. The app will enable you to communicate with deceased family members as well as friends, famous people, and historical figures who have passed away.

When using movies, letters, or voice recordings, the app may recognise anyone’s voice and personal information. Later, the bot can be controlled and engaged with using smartphones or other smart devices. Instead of letting you start a brand-new chat with the bot every time, HereAfter AI keeps note of a person’s life story.

One of the biggest issues with the majority of grief technology now is that it is too generic. Although they may seem like someone you care about, they are completely unfamiliar with you. Whoever speaks to them will receive the same response from them. The same question always yields the same response.

Unfortunately, as Senior Vice President of Alexa Rohit Prasad noted, “While AI cannot alleviate the grief of loss. However, it can undoubtedly prolong the recollections.

The main building of Islamabad’s Information Technology (IT) Park will be built this month, according to Ministry of Science and Technology officials. The federal capital’s Information Technology (IT) Park would create at least 15,000 jobs for IT experts, students, and professionals.

According to the details, all necessary provisions have been made, and the tendering procedure is nearing completion. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has already approved the building’s design, and MoITT has also received approval from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The park’s foundation stone was laid on Chak Shahzad last year by Minister of Information and Telecommunications Syed Amin Ul Haque, as part of the Digital Pakistan Vision.

An official from the Ministry revealed that the project would cost Rs13.72 billion in total. All electrical connections, drain channels, and purchasing have been completed. The building of a boundary wall and the payment of land taxes are already complete. On the Pakistani side, all work has been completed, and contract awarding on the Korean side is underway, with completion expected in the coming weeks.

On May 26, 2021, Minister of IT & Telecom (MoITT), Syed Amin Ul Haq, and Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, H.E Suh Sangpyo, laid the groundwork for the establishment of an IT Park in Islamabad at Chak Shahzad.

Islamabad IT Park will initially house 120 start-ups and small to medium-sized businesses, as well as supporting facilities such as testing laboratories, classrooms, an industry-academia linkage centre, an auditorium, and so on. The Ministry of Information Technology is currently collaborating with the Pakistan Software Export Board to establish software technology parks in Quetta, Gwadar, Faisalabad, Bannu, Swat, Mardan, Sukkur, and Hyderabad.

It will boost IT exports and industrial competitiveness, as well as attract federal direct investment in the IT sector. During the construction phase, it will directly and indirectly employ over 5,000 people. It will create an additional 5,000 direct and indirect jobs once completed.

Pakistan’s IT and telecom business has developed rapidly in recent years, owing to its enormous potential. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has now stated that Pakistan provides tremendous potential for technology investment. In addition, international IT companies would be aided in all aspects of investment and expansion. He stated this when speaking with Mr. Yi Xiang, President of Huawei’s Middle East and Africa Region.

Pakistan’s IT exports would increase from 1.5 billion dollars to 15 billion dollars in the coming year, thanks to rising IT exports. Furthermore, with Huawei’s help, Pakistan will be able to provide training to its youth through a variety of channels, including the establishment of a university.

The Prime Minister also stated that investments in the technology industry would boost employment and improve the capabilities of Pakistani youth. Furthermore, it will aid in women’s empowerment, as the government is working to boost the number of women working in the e-commerce sector by providing them with a conducive environment in which to get trained and acquire financing.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has opted to purchase an automated Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring and benchmarking system for voice, SMS, and data QoS KPIs (KPIs).

The system will contain data collection and analysis (post-processing) modules, as well as related services, to assess voice, SMS, and data QoS KPIs for at least five (5) operators at the same time, with the possibility to extend to include more operators if necessary.

It would also require the measurement of all QoS KPIs. Both data collection and data analysis units should support all technologies, including but not limited to the Global System for Mobile (GSM)/ Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)/ Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA)/High-Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA)/High-Speed Upload Packet Access (HSUPA)/High-Speed Packet Access+ (HSPA+)/Long Term Evolution (LTE)/ Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE)/

The system would have to meet certain requirements, such as the ability to test and benchmark QoS across multiple mobile operators (i.e. continuous measurement of at least five mobile networks), with the goal of replicating end-user experience across various mobile networks, device types, and wireless technologies (i.e. 2G/3G/4G, etc.) currently in use in Pakistan, including AJK and GB.

It should be able to conduct field tests, measure, benchmark, and report QoS Key Advance Indicators (KPIs) as defined in mobile services licensees issued to Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) in Pakistan from time to time, as well as the PTA service quality regulation (Cellular Mobile Network Quality of Service (QoS) Regulations 2021).
