VLC is one of the most used media player, with lots of interesting and unique features.  The developers have always tried to bring something new to the users. From taking a screenshot to looping a video you will find it all in VLC.

Recently this diverse player has shared the preview of their new player. According to it this time a new feature called 360-degree videos will be included in the public release of VLC 3.0, which is expected sometime in the next month.

360-degree videos or spherical videos are recorded using special cameras that can record in all direction at one time. The developers VideoLan joined hands with Giroptic (who are one of the leading 360-degree camera makers) to bring to you VLC player featured with this amazingly new thing. Users will be able to use their mouse and keyboard to control point of view in the footage.

VideoLAN says, “We will make these features available on its mobile apps as well, and let users navigate the clips by moving their accelerometer-carrying devices around. Soon it will support VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift, Google’s Daydream and the HTC Vive in 2017. The app is also getting 360-degree audio support including head tracking headphones.”

These sorts of videos are already being featured by Face book and YouTube. They can be played in almost all browsers but it is new to be introduced into a web video player.  VLC Media Player has become first native video player after introducing this feature in VLC Media Player 3.0 that is announced to be launched in the next month.

So we will have to wait another month to test this feature. It is expected to go well along the other features of VLC till than read its reviews and get to know more about its launch.
