Google Will Kill Call Recording Apps in the Play Store Next Month

Beginning May 11, Google will formally apply new Play Store standards prohibiting third-party applications from using the Accessibility API to capture call audio streams. For Android 10 devices, Google had already disabled the capability.

This policy will not affect system or pre-installed programmes that already have access to the Accessibility API. According to Google:

The Accessibility API is not meant for remote call audio recording and cannot be requested.

Because call recording laws vary widely around the world, Google’s updated policies are an effort to improve privacy and security.
