Startup Accelerator i2i has opened applications for 6th Batch

Invest 2 Innovate (i2i) has always helped startups to grow and prosper. Continuing the legacy, the i2i is ready to start the 6^th round of its startup batch. They are welcoming applications from the startups. The i2i chooses the startups that have high aim and have the strength to stand up.

What is i2i?

This startup incubator was launched in 2011 in Pakistan and since then as supported the startups to achieve more and more. The incubator has been recognized as one of the best incubators of the country that have been working for the betterment of the startups. So far it has supported 25 major startups and was able to bag around some $2.5 million. Moreover, it has created jobs for 4,000 people.

About the i2i Accelerator Program:

Startup Accelerator i2i program will last four months. The accelerator program is an annual program held by the incubator. The startups are supported to grow and set their feet strong in the country. Lectures are conducted which are usually based on the customer acquisition to financial management and logistics.

At the end of the program, entrepreneurs get to pitch before investors at the i2i annual Demo Day.

Eligibility Criteria

All startups and entrepreneurs need to fulfill the following criteria for selection in the current batch:

• Founders must be available full-time for their business idea
• Business idea must have a positive social or environmental impact with a direct or indirect impact on health, nutrition or accountability.
• Founders must have plans for a viable business within the next 3 to 5 years
• Business must be on a for-profit model. Ideally, the business should already be registered entities.
• Founders must show some traction (e.g revenue or proof of concept)
• Businesses should be at the seed-stage, seeking an investment of around $100-$200k.

According to a press release, “The Startup Struggle” was held by Velocity. Velocity is a Telenor Pakistan’s accelerator program. The Startup Struggle was a powerful event that was attended by entrepreneurs and the young startups.

The event highlighted the problems like:

》What must be done to help startups succeed in the Pakistani market?

The event was graced by four prestigious mentors.

1) Usama Shahid – ex CEO and Founder of Meri Taleem,

2) Junaid Malik – Founder of NutriNysa and Raise d’Bar,

3) Shehryar Hydri – Director of Marketing and Operations at Convo,

4) Jeremy Higgs – Co Founder of Eco-Energy.

Besides them from all across Pakistan 80 Pakistani startups related to different types of setups, joined the dynamic event.

The event activity featured the stories of entrepreneurs and startups that had experience either failure or success. They also spoke about the struggles they did to achieve their goal. Moreover they discussed recoupment. The 5 hours of the group activity did not only feature the stories but it was a great platform for people associated with entrepreneurial system of Pakistan to discuss the problems and best possible solutions for their problem in presence of mentors.

In the event the main thing that was highlighted was that the basic reasons the startups in Pakistan do not achieve popularity the success they aim for include  inadequate funding, bad launch timing, compromised quality of product, a weak business model or absence of it, and above all, lack of passion.

It is a fact that to hit it big it is important to work hard, be determined and have all necessary sources. The idea is not just enough to run a successful company.

Since years now many accelerators have sprung up in Pakistan and they a running successfully. The main reason for this is that there are many new startups and people are attracted towards the entrepreneurial field.

Telenor Velocity has made many efforts to solve issues and has helped many startups but unfortunately only dew names can be seen on the success graph. This indicates that there is a need for programs to hold more events like this to help entrepreneurs.

“Telenor Velocity” is Telenor Pakistan Startup Accelerator. The main aim of the program is to help the startups to reach market within six months. Telenor Velocity makes it possible by accessing Telenor Pakistan’s scale and assets including data analytics, retail and digital distribution network, API platform and online payments solution.

This is not the only one step taken by Telenor to promote the digital technology in Pakistan. The company has tried to take many initiatives to promote the digital technology in Pakistan and so far has remained successful over r the period of almost 12 years.

Telenor Pakistan is one of the top telecommunication services that run successfully in Pakistan. The service started in 2005 and since then it has managed to bag over 39 million subscribers. More than 2,500 employees work in the company.

The greatest and most well-known incubator around the world is now set to start the funding cycle Winter 2017.

It was already announced in 2016 that the applications are welcomed by all willing startups.

Y Combinator is all set to start the Winter Season 2017. The funding cycle will be held at Mountain View in California from Jan–Mar 2017.

This cycle is held twice a year for 3 months each. The investment is done on a different scale they have total funds of US$120,000. It doesn’t invest in a single company but there are several countries which get small shares of funds.

During the duration of three months the Silicon Valley is turned into residential area for the companies in which they invest. There the companies are guided to set their feet strong.

Coaches and mentors teach them how to make their business successful.

The whole cycle ends with a Demo Day. This day is the show day by companies about what they had learnt all these days.

Top Startup Accelerator Winter 2017 program is going to bring a chance for many rising startups to learn and achieve what they have aimed for.

Y Combinator wrote on their blog;

One area we think a lot about is water—natural fresh supplies could be at serious risk around the world. We’re close to a tipping point where technology will let us make clean water extremely abundant and cheap. We will create more than enough clean water for everyone in the world, for any use necessary.

As planned the Winter 2017 funding cycle will start from January and it will end in March. The cycle will be held in YC HQ in the beautiful mountain valley in California.

YC has always invested in companies of its interest. It has made 1081 investments in 982 companies. Now that is some sort of investment that needs to be done to stay powerful.
