In its 5G networks, Canada has prohibited Huawei and ZTE equipment. The Canadian government made this judgement based on national security considerations. It went on to say that the suppliers might be forced to follow “extrajudicial orders from foreign governments” in ways that “conflict with Canadian laws or are damaging to Canadian interests.”

By June 28th, 2024, all telecom operators in the country must have removed all Huawei and ZTE-branded 5G equipment from their networks. The government has also set a deadline for the 4G equipment to be removed by the end of 2027.

“The Government is dedicated to maximising the social and economic benefits of 5G and universal access to telecoms services,” the Canadian government said in a statement.

It’s worth noting that US telcos are spending billions of dollars removing and replacing network equipment. Huawei’s equipment is likewise prohibited in the United Kingdom. On national security reasons, Australia and New Zealand have similarly limited the use of their technology.

China’s National Intelligence Law is the reason for this prohibition. All of these countries believe that Chinese tech giants like Huawei and ZTE will give the Chinese government vital information from international networks.

Huawei, on the other hand, rejected this report, claiming that:

“China will conduct a thorough and thorough investigation into this event and take all necessary steps to protect Chinese enterprises’ lawful rights and interests.”

It took Canada three years to make a decision on whether or not to utilise Huawei and ZTE equipment in its telecom networks.

Under the partnership, Zong in collaboration with Huawei will be donating 200 tablets to Akhuwat. Akhuwat provides education services to make digital education for the less privileged students accessible across Pakistan, including the far-flung areas of Sindh. Through high-tech studio facilities, interactive content, highly qualified teachers, a team of academic and IT professionals, and the tablets donated, Akhuwat will be leading the mission of digitally imparting quality learning.

“As an organization that places a huge emphasis on the well-being of the underprivileged strata of the society, Zong 4G has always stepped forward to integrate them in the modern and digital society of today,” Zong 4G’s spokesperson said.

“With digitization being on top of our agenda, we’re pleased to have partnered with Akhuwat Foundation and are glad to have a chance to help Pakistan’s underprivileged youth get introduced to advanced ways of learning,” she added.

Deputy CEO Huawei Pakistan, Wuhan reiterated the sentiment, stating, “At the heart of the Huawei ethos is our belief in openness and knowledge-sharing. We are committed to supporting the development of an ICT talent ecosystem in Pakistan and very happy to aid Akhuwat Foundation, in collaboration with Zong 4G, in this endeavor.”

Huawei’s aim is to openly collaborate with the public and private sectors to create an ICT ecosystem that drives forward digital transformation. Zong believes that Akhuwat Foundation has all the means to establish and deliver a nationwide e-learning platform that will be free to access.

NJV Government School in Karachi is going to be the transmission center of this e-learning project. Classes will be conducted by highly qualified teachers and will be streamed live to students all over the country. Students who can’t afford such advanced learning will benefit greatly from this initiative.

The partnership initially targets 200 students belonging to the remote areas of Sindh, hosting online classes for grades VI to XII. Training on the usage of these devices and connecting with Akhuwat’s LMS (Learning Management System) will be provided to students/parents by Akhuwat.

Zong is leading the country’s ICT-powered digital transformation and is geared to digitize the educational landscape of Pakistan, especially in the wake of Covid-19 which brought the wide digital divide to light in Pakistan. Zong’s support for Akhuwat Foundation in its mission of ending social inequality is just one instance of Zong’s commitment to Pakistan. Akhuwat believes that a hybrid style of quality education is the need of today in nurturing the students coming from less privileged backgrounds.

Exposing them to the technological tools of today’s learning environment gives these students a fighting chance to stand at par with everyone else and nurture them to be future leaders in their respective fields. The Huawei tablets will greatly facilitate NJV School’s objective to impart hybrid style Free of Cost Quality education to the students coming from rural areas of Sindh.

These tablets will greatly improve the students’ technological skills and enable them to access apps that promote learning along with research and the accessing of LMS, and, above all, prepare them for more technological advancements years down the road.

The pandemic’s destruction served as the final key test for Pakistan’s digital ambitions. Pakistanis have turned to cellphones, tablets, and laptops to work, play, learn, and keep connected since the country was put on lockdown last year. For all intents and purposes, Pakistan’s digital ecosystem has passed with flying colours, highlighting Pakistan Vision 2025 and the country’s Digital Policy, which aims to build a $20 billion ICT economy by 2025.

However, the digital patterns that have emerged as a result of the epidemic call for a rethinking of the ICT talent pipeline. Universities in Pakistan, like universities around the world, must adapt their teaching and operational methods to meet the demands of an increasingly digital environment.

What are the best ways for our colleges to meet this challenge? The first step is to acknowledge that traditional classroom education is insufficient to provide pupils with the well-rounded skillsets that modern businesses want. To supplement the theoretical classroom teaching, students require hands-on expertise and extensive practical exposure. To do this, colleges must collaborate with the larger ICT ecosystem in order to take advantage of the technical advantages that only IT businesses can provide.

The University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila, was one of the first universities in Pakistan to recognize the value of partnerships to benefit our students and the greater economy. One of the institution’s most successful partnerships is with Huawei, which is working with the university to upgrade its computer training curriculum as well as create a future campus.

Huawei ICT Academy, a school-enterprise collaboration project established to assist forge a deeper talent ecosystem, is housed at UET Taxila. Huawei assists universities in cultivating ICT talent that meets industry requirements, offering high-quality talent for industry development, by strengthening the cooperation mechanism between universities and enterprises. Huawei ICT Training Courses are now part of UET Taxila’s Computer and Telecom Curriculum.

A programme for advanced education should be delivered in a similar environment. That is why UET Taxila has made the creation of a smart campus a top priority. The university’s leadership entrusted Huawei with the implementation of a large-scale Smart and Safe Campus Project based on Huawei ICT infrastructure. As a result, the Huawei Smart Classrooms at UET Taxila and partner institution Fatima Jinnah Women University have enabled live video conferencing as well as online lecture broadcasting and recording.

We are eager to help Pakistan’s objective of establishing a knowledge-based economy now that this digital foundation has been established. The establishment of a cutting-edge ICT infrastructure is critical to this effort. The government has already put in place the policy framework for 5G deployment, with the goal of having it operational by April 2023. Countries in our region that have already implemented 5G have seen tremendous gains. Since rolling out 5G, carriers in Kuwait, one of the Middle East countries with the earliest and fastest 5G development, have seen a 4 percent increase in revenue and a 13 percent increase in profitability.

Beyond connectivity, 5G would help Pakistan achieve its Vision 2025 by supporting the growth of vertical sectors. Currently, 5G use cases have been deployed with positive results in industries such as Digital Oil & Gas and Smart Port, and we anticipate to see 5G enable additional industries in the future.

However, deploying 5G successfully necessitates a set of abilities. Again, industry collaborations with technology suppliers will be critical in providing 5G training to our kids. Huawei is expanding 5G training in conjunction with colleges where the technology is available, providing 5G training credentials, and collaborating on creative 5G real-world initiatives. Additionally, Huawei’s annual skills development initiatives, such as Seeds for the Future, now provide students with important opportunity to immerse themselves in cutting-edge ICT technologies like 5G and get practical experience. As a result, UET Taxila plans to collaborate with Huawei on 5G test deployment and research as the technology matures.

Rapid deployment of modern technologies, on the other hand, is fraught with dangers. Because of the increased threat landscape brought on by fast digital transformation, the world faces serious cybersecurity risks. This is not unique to Pakistan. In order to combat cybercrime, collaboration is essential. A safer network is a shared responsibility, and we applaud global technology companies like Huawei for partnering with educational institutions to train students in cybersecurity mitigation efforts.

The Pakistani administration supports their aim of working together across borders for mutual benefit. Dr Arif Alvi, praised Huawei Academy’s collaboration with more than 80 universities in Pakistan to develop new talent in a recent speech. He praised global firms’ efforts to develop an environment for tapping talent, citing the high number of students undertaking ICT training.

Google reportedly ends business with Huawei that requires the transfer of hardware, software and technical services. Alphabet Inc’s Google blocks Huawei access to android updates after the U.S. government has sought to blacklist around the world. This act (Trump blacklist) is a huge blow to Chinese technology company Huawei, whose goal is to be the top smartphone company by the end of 2020.

People who currently holds Huawei smartphones with Google apps, however, will continue to be able to use and download app updates provided by Google, a Google spokesperson confirmed to the media.

“We are complying with the order and reviewing the implications,”

the Google spokesperson said.

Huawei will only be able to use the public version of Android and will not be able to access apps and services from Google.

“Google Play and the security protections from Google Play Protect will continue to function on existing Huawei devices,”

Google spokesperson further said.

This suspension threatens Huawei’s supply chain business and could detain the rollout of 5G services around the world. But the biggest trouble for Huawei is what the decision means for future smartphone sales.

It is to be noted that most of Google’s popular products like Gmail, YouTube and Google Maps are fully banned in China, where smartphones company Huawei offers domestic alternatives like Tencent’s (TCEHY) WeChat and Baidu (BIDU) Maps.

Huawei has previously said it is developing its own backup operating system under the name “Hongmeng”, in case it was blocked from Google services.

Huawei has been building an alternative operating system just in case it is needed.

said Huawei spokesperson Glenn Schloss.

It runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat on Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset and a 1.8 GHz Octa-core processor. Pair that with its 4 GB RAM and this phone is capable enough to handle almost anything you could throw its way smoothly without any lags.

It has 32 GB internal memory along with the option of inserting a microSD card of up to 256 GB. It has a 5.7 inch display so you never feel pressed for screen space either. The V7 boasts a robust, non-removable 3000 mAh battery with an endurance of 77h so the battery won’t be an issue for you either no matter how heavy an app you’re running at any given time.

The phone comes in three beautiful colours (Champagne Gold, Matte Black and Energetic Blue) in a plastic body that looks very much metallic instead along with bezels minimized to such an extent that phone looks nearly bezel-less giving it a very sleek, high quality look. The phone comes with both a fingerprint sensor and a face-unlock feature so you can choose either.

Currently the Vivo V7’s lowest price in the market is Rs. 22,999 from iShopping.pk.

The Camon X offers 32 GB internal storage with a microSD card slot supporting up to 128 GB. It also has a much better battery than the Vivo V7 with 3750 mAh and quick charge technology. The phone has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and comes equipped in its box with a protective case for everyday use.

The TECNO Camon X’s current lowest price in Pakistan is Rs. 20,999 from all sellers.

Infinix Hot S3

Released in February 2018, Infinix Hot S3 is another great, affordable alternative. It has a 13 MP back camera and a 20 MP front camera with dual LED flash for both cameras. Equipped with geo-tagging, phase detection, panorama, auto-focus, and HDR the Infinix Hot S3 is a truly capable camera phone with emphasis on selfies. The Hot S3 also offers a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It comes in two colours (Sandstone Black, Brush Gold) and has reduced bezels for a sleek, clean look.

The Infinix Hot S3’s current price in Pakistan is Rs. 19,999 from all sellers.

Huawei Honor 9 Lite

Released in December 2017, the Huawei Honor 9 Lite may have a slightly less powerful camera but has its own unique features that set it apart from others on best selfie phones list. The Honor 9 Lite has dual 13 MP and 2 MP lenses for both the front and back cameras and LED flash allowing you to take wider pictures and selfies.

Equipped with the latest Android Oreo, 2.36 GHz Octa core processor and 3 GB RAM, you can stay up to date with the latest apps without any lags.

It has a large 5.7-inch display with 1080p resolution and a 3000 mAh battery, much like the Vivo V7. Apart from that, the Honor 9 Lite also has a beautiful, sleek, nearly bezel-less design which comes in two colours (Black, and Blue) and has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Huawei Honor 9 Lite’s current lowest price in Pakistan is Rs. 23,649 from iShopping.pk.

Oppo A57

Released in December 2016, it’s surprising to see an Oppo phone at the bottom of any camera phone related list but the Oppo A57 still offers a great, affordable option. The A57 offers a 13-MP back camera with LED flash and a 16-MP front camera with 1080p resolution. The main reason why we’ve chosen to rank from the Honor 9 Lite above in the Best Selfie Phones list it is due to the fact that the 9 Lite offers a powerful dual front camera whereas the A57 offers a traditional single front camera.

The A57 has a 5.2 inch display with 720p resolution with the infamous, robust Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection making that its biggest selling point apart from its camera capabilities. It records videos up to 1080p resolution at 30 fps.

It comes equipped with an Android Marshmallow OS, Snapdragon 435, 1.4 GHz Octa-core processor and 3 GB RAM with a 2900 mAh battery which is slightly lower than the 9 Lite’s. The A57 comes in three colours (Black, Gold, and Rose Gold) with an aluminum body and a front-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Oppo A57’s current lowest price in Pakistan is Rs. 21,550 from vmart.pk.

Hopefully this Best Selfie Phones list will help you to find one of your favorite company smartphone from the Pakistani market.

Gamers can’t get enough of fantasy role-playing; one of the summer’s hottest gaming trends. Against spectacularly imaginative backdrops, players assume the roles of characters in an online fictional setting, as they undertake exhilarating quests to save the day! There is a new smartphone gamer should know about – the Huawei Y7 Prime.

The newest member of the beloved Huawei Y series, the Huawei Y7 Prime is an absolute hero when it comes to smartphone gaming; from its robust battery for all-day game play, to its powerful processor to keep games running quickly and smoothly, to its metallic design that makes the device comfortable to hold for hours of gaming on-the-go.

Winners have top strength, enabling them to battle it out and withstand fierce attacks on your kingdom. The Huawei Y7 Prime is a hero in strength. The smartphone’s massive 4000mAh battery gives users a full day of action with just one charge – so you get the strength to play any other game, all day long.

The Huawei Y7 Prime offers users intelligent, intuitive operation in the brand’s signature Emotion User Interface (EMUI), now updated to EMUI 5.1. 90% of frequent actions can be completed in 3 steps, and special for game lovers, eye comfort mode makes the screen more comfortable for the eyes while long-time reading and playing games.
