Ufone Submits Corporate Social Responsibility Projects Report to Senate Panel
The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunications has received a report on Ufone’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects. According to the report, as part of the PTCL Group, it initiated a national-level comprehensive COVID-19 relief and assistance operation worth Rs. 1.9 billion.
During Karachi’s monsoon rains in 2020, Ufone partnered with Khana Ghar to provide cooked food and drink to those who were affected. It had also arranged national-level football competitions for young people in Punjab, Sindh, KPK, and Balochistan to assist them showcase their talents.
According to the CSR report, Ufone worked with the Pakistan Red Crescent in Balochistan to assist populations devastated by rain and flooding. Furthermore, the telecommunications business had contributed to raising breast cancer awareness by collaborating with Pink Ribbon to raise national awareness.
According to the report filed to the Senate IT committee, Ufone had put hotline signboards on the Makran Highway in the districts of Lasbela and Gwadar, and had helped raise awareness about COVID-19 through SMS broadcast and CRBT. On the PTA’s orders, Ufone also started sending SMS broadcasts to ministries.
According to the article, Ufone launched a countrywide digital marketing campaign dubbed ‘Bano Achai ki Misaal’ in Ramzan to gather donations for leading organisations via UPaisa.Furthermore, under the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) financial inclusion programme, Ufone is trying to empower women.
