WhatsApp will Soon Let You Add Voice Messages to Your Status
Through a future update, WhatsApp hopes to improve the app’s status updates. The new WhatsApp beta version for Android (2.22.16.3) offers the ability to attach audio notes to status updates, as first noted by WABetaInfo.
“Voice statuses” will be the name of the new category of status updates. You can use this to record audio messages and add them to your WhatsApp status, as the name suggests. View the screenshot that follows.
A new button will be added as part of the upgrade on the status tab’s bottom. You can rapidly add voice remarks to your status updates by pressing the button with the microphone symbol. Voice status updates work the same way as regular status updates in that they are only shared with the persons you specify in your privacy settings.
Just like all other communications and media exchanged on WhatsApp, the voice notes will be end-to-end encrypted. Since the feature is still in development, it is unknown when it will be included in WhatsApp’s stable release. However, since it is already there in WhatsApp Beta, it is certain to make an appearance on the main app sooner rather than later.
WhatsApp is developing a shortcut for viewing status updates immediately through the conversation list, according to related news. In the event that you neglect to check the status tab, this will ensure that you don’t miss out on anyone’s most recent updates.
