6G May Come Earlier Than Expected
Performance criteria for 6G connectivity include a peak data rate of 1 Tbps and a latency of less than 100 milliseconds, among other things. 6G can give 50 times faster peak data throughput and 10 times lower latency than existing networking technology.
South Korean governments are very interested in the future of networking technology. According to the Presidential Transition Committee:
“The present government is focusing on non-memory chips, future automobiles and biotech, and healthcare as future economic growth drivers. 6G communications, secondary batteries, displays, defence and aerospace, advanced nuclear power plants, and digital content are all planned by the new government.”
Many are trying to produce 6G prototypes by 2026 in order to commercialise the technology by the late 2020s. The South Korean government, on the other hand, is keen to develop the technology and wants it completed as quickly as feasible.
Before 6G technology is perfected, there is still a lot of research and development work to be done. However, progress is steady, and the South Korean government’s plans may soon become a reality.
