Pakistan Unveils First Locally-Made Ventilator
Pakistan has taken a significant step toward technological independence with the launch of its first locally-manufactured ventilator, unveiled by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal.
The ventilator, developed under the ‘Uraan Pakistan’ initiative by a private company, represents a major milestone in the country’s push for homegrown technological solutions. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Iqbal lauded the company behind the innovation, referring to it as a “champion of Uraan Pakistan.” He emphasized the need for nurturing talent that combines hard work, ambition, and intelligence to drive Pakistan’s progress on the global stage.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the country, Iqbal noted that despite Pakistan’s talented and hardworking population, its global image has often been tarnished by negative forces. He called for collective efforts to rebuild the country’s reputation and strengthen its position as it nears its 100th independence anniversary in 2047.
Iqbal also underscored the importance of innovation in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He expressed confidence in Pakistan’s ability to compete technologically with its global counterparts over the next two decades, despite its smaller population compared to neighboring nations.
The minister outlined the importance of policy consistency and long-term reforms, drawing inspiration from countries like Japan and South Korea. He set an ambitious target of increasing Pakistan’s exports from $30 billion to $100 billion within the next decade and urged the private sector to play a leading role in achieving this goal, especially in agriculture and industrial development.
In his concluding remarks, Iqbal highlighted the critical role of entrepreneurship, innovation, and an export-driven economy in shaping Pakistan’s future. He encouraged the youth to embrace technology to help the nation compete on the global stage.
