Women University Swabi Banned Smartphones in University Premises
Students at a public women’s college in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province have been prohibited from using smartphones while in school.
According to a statement from the Swabian Women’s University, the ban will take effect on April 20. (Wednesday).
“We are advised, for the knowledge of all pupils, that from 20. 2022,” the notification reads.
According to the administration, widespread usage of social networking programmes degrades student performance and has negative consequences for their behaviour.
“If the instructions are not followed, the authorities would take strong disciplinary action, confiscating the phone and imposing a Rs. 5,000 punishment,” he warned.
