CM Punjab Inaugurates First Lincoln Corner at IT University, Lahore
The 19 Lincoln Corner in Pakistan has just been opened at Arfa Kareem Technology Park. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, inaugurated it. The Lincoln Corner is an effort of two leading names , the US consulate and the Information Technology University.
Lincoln Corner has 19 setups in Pakistan including the recently inaugurated Corner in Lahore. It is decent lounge that can occupy more than 50 people. It aims to indulge the generation in science and technology. It provides a bridge between the youth of Pakistan and United States so that they can share ideas and knowledge on technology, art and culture.
As claimed,
“Lincoln Corner Lahore is a platform for providing information about the United States, English language learning, Education USA, cultural programs and alumni activities. This space will provide access to the latest, in-depth information about the United States, and will connect Americans and Pakistanis in engaging discussions on U.S. policy, society, and values. Visitors gain free access to Wi-Fi, reliable information about the United States through books, magazines, videos, databases, and programs for the general public.”
The setup also plan to guide women to use computers and give them small-scale projects.
The corner is equipped with a library containing 500 books and an E-Library.
The CM of Punjab on the occasion said,
“Setting up Lincoln Corner at ITU is a stimulating step which will help students of both countries to develop close ties by getting familiarity with other side’s culture, activities and language.”
The CM also congratulated Donald Trump for taking Presidential Oath and he said he is looking forward to days when both the nations will have even friendly relations.
The event was graced by the presence of Provincial Minister, Chairman HEC, IT experts, US Consul members, senior officers and many students. Hopefully It will bring US and Pakistan together to change Educational system in Punjab.
