Facebook Temporarily Marked Many Users As Dead

“You are dead!”  No not you but if you are a Facebook user it might have just happened that your timeline declares you dead on Friday. It was a  Facebook bug that caused people’s profile pages to display that they have died on Friday.

This bug was reported by many people even Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg was one of the victim of the bug. Many Business Insider employees reported this on Friday afternoon.

When the complaints started coming   about the bug, visitors to the Facebook’s CEO profile were greeted with a calming notification:

“We hope people who love Mark will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate his life,”

Along with this message was a link to Face book request form. The form was all about memorializing the account of someone who was dead.

Once the matter was resolved and the ET people said that the message was gone from their profiles. It was about 4 p.m.  Giving a proof of responsibility the Face book management apologized right after the matter was resolved.

The Spokesperson from Face book said,

“For a brief period today, a message meant for memorialized profiles was mistakenly posted to other accounts. This was a terrible error that we have now fixed. We are very sorry that this happened and we worked as quickly as possible to fix it.”
