Dubai has launched world’s first paperless passport
Dubai becomes the first country to have paperless passports. Recently, for the convenience of the people, Dubai has launched Smart UAE Wallet. This allows smooth and east travel within the country.
According to the newly introduced system, now, people can use their smart phones as passports.
The app is designed that to use the technology the residents of Dubai will need to register themselves first. Right now this app is only for the residents of Dubai.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the Police and Public security in Dubai Lt Gen Tamim,
“The Smart Wallet will save passengers’ time and also protect their documents and passport. Passengers will only need to use the Smartphone at the smart gates and scan their fingerprint [to finish the departure procedure] with ease.”
Not only this, but Dubai has also introduced Robocop. Robocop is designed to protect the citizens from theft and snatching. Robocop works in a way that it can detect the culprit via the face expressions of the person. This can prove very beneficial for the police department.
With the increasing use of technology, the time is not far when Dubai will become the first ever digital country of the world because it is introducing technology in every field and sector.
Abdullah Khalifa, the Dubai Police Chief and head of “Smart Dubai” with paperless passport initiative has requested PITB to develop new technologies in different fields so that the life quality could be made better.
