Punjab to get Water ATM Machines for Clean Drinking Water
With only 1% of pure drinking water in the World, Pakistan has a very less share of pure water. Some areas of Pakistan are still cut off with the supply of drinking water.
For Punjab, this issue seems to be resolved as the Water ATM Machines will be installed across Punjab to enable the supply of clean water.
The students of Information Technology University (ITU) initiated the project, few years back as the final year project.
Recently ITU has shaken hands with University of Colorado to bring this initiative to life.
The organizers have planned to install Water ATM Machines across all Punjab. The locations where the clean drinking water is difficult to get are under special consideration. The people will be given the card and quota of monthly water.
The Water ATM Machines works just like other ATM machines. The only difference is that instead of money water will be withdrawn from them.
The machine doesn’t require any expertise. It is designed such that any person, literate or illiterate can use the machine without any problem and get access to water.
It is estimated that the project cam cost $374,500.
To check the level of water and unit of water dispensing will be connected to main server. This will be an easy way to distribute water and for government to deduce the areas where sage and clean water is required.
According to studies of experts, Pakistan is running short of water. In their terms it turning into water-scarce country.
Such initiatives are need to be taken to maintain the life in the country and recognize water resources.
